3D Printed Homes: Decoding Costs, Time, and Labor in Construction

The 3D Printing Techniques  called "construction 3D printing (c3Dp)". build and construct house by Humans Machines and Robots!!

Where Are This Techniques Available in Country?

3D printing technology is available in the United States, China, Germany, the Netherlands, Japan, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Australia, and the United Arab Emirates.

History

Robotic bricklaying was find in 1950s and related technology like automated construction was began in the 1960s in Japan. This is developed with concrete pump and isocyanate foams. called 3D printing. The period of 3D printed house is from 1995 to 2005. Here are some key highlights from that era:
  • 1995: Commercial services by Stratasys and 3D Systems launch.
  • 1996: SLS called (stands for Selective Laser Sintering.) patent expires, making technology more accessible.
  • 2002: RepRap project starts, to pushing open-source 3D printing.
  • 2004: MakerBot was founded, pioneers affordable desktop 3D printers.
  • 2005: Objet Geometries introduces PolyJet technology.

Design of 3D printing:

Architect James Bruce Gardiner designed two projects:

1st: Freefab Tower in 2004. FreeFAB Tower aimed to combine 3D printing with modular construction, influencing later projects like Winsun's. It introduced multi-axis robotic arms in construction of 3D printing.

2nd: Villa Roccia in 2009–2010, designed in collaboration with D-Shape, focused on a site-specific architectural language, but only reached the prototyping stage.

ok, now discuss about it's cost:

Cost and Availabilities (12/2023):

In India, it's price As per the construction team to share insights, the cost of 3D printed house is approximately 5 lakhs to 5.5 lakhs, which is about 20% of the cost of a standard 2BHK apartment.

In the United States, 3D-printed houses can cost between $10,000 and $400,000.

There are some other country pricing:
A Japanese company called Serendix is 3D printing tiny homes for $37,600
Germany amounts to a value of about 450,000 €.

Labour and Timing:

3D printed homes decrease the need for manual labor, automating much of the construction process. This not only reduces costs of labour but also improves overall particularly for repetitive or intricate tasks.

    3D Printing Speed:

The layer-by-layer 3D printing process rapidly constructs walls and structures. The timing of 3D printing is depend on house design and size.

it takes no more time of small construction. it is the machine work therefore this gives perfect timing to build homes and other constructions .

time
How long can it last?

3D printed homes are generally considered to be quite durable. Homes constructed using concrete can last as long as a home made from concrete blocks, which is at least 100 years!!

👉 But it is important to notice that material quality and environmental conditions are effect on it !!
